"Oh God, Father, death is coming! Oh Mama, the forbidden one!" Two women circled her on the hospital bed, while two young girls stood frozen in the middle of the cemented room, their faces etched with silent distress.  

By the side of the bed, near where her feet lay, stood an elderly man dressed in a grand robe and a scholar’s turban. He held a silver cup, murmuring prayers into it. Suddenly, a scream erupted—she yanked her gown up, exposing her swollen belly, as if she hadn’t eaten in days. The side of her abdomen was slightly bloated, and if you looked closely, you’d see something like a massive, bulging cyst about to burst.  

Another scream tore through the room. The women holding her down cried, *"Oh God, Mama has entered the third stage! The pain, Mama! Oh God, the pain is killing me!"* She thrashed, gripping their hands, wailing, *"Baba! Baba! Baba! I’m calling you, answer me! Oh God, I’m yours!"* Her cries were desperate, her body writhing.  

The agony was so intense it seemed like a living thing had taken root inside her. Her screams filled the house, thick with despair. One of the women—her mother—suddenly clutched her chest, overwhelmed. She wiped the sweat from her forehead, covered her face with her hands, and sobbed, *"Haba, Balkisu! You, the golden one! Can’t you pray for us? You’re strong, a warrior! If Layla and Rayyana see you like this, they’ll lose hope—they only have you to look up to!"*  

She shook her head violently, her cries mixing with gasps and whimpers. *"I swear by Baba, I swear! Baba, come! Baba, help me!"* Her legs kicked out, her eyes wide and frantic. *"Baba! Baba! Muji! Oh God, Muji, come help me! Shatu, come! For God’s sake, I’ve entered the third stage! Oh Mama, look at me, do you see what’s happening?"*  

Her wails grew louder until her mother, still holding her, suddenly slapped her own mouth hard and snapped, *"Shut up! Can’t you call on God’s name instead of just screaming like a madwoman?"*  

Just then, Baba removed the cup from his lips and glanced at the eldest woman. *"For Zainab’s sake,"* he said calmly. The room fell quiet except for the girl’s labored breathing. She bit her lip, then whispered, *"Wait… uhh…"* She paused, looking at him with pleading eyes.  

His large, smooth hand rested on the woman’s shoulder as he shut his eyes tightly, murmuring, *"I’m preparing…"* Mama placed her hand on his, and they both sat in silence.  

Then, a scream—like death itself—ripped from her throat. *"Enough! Enough! It’s done!"* They leaned her against the wall. Baba’s cup trembled as he swirled the water violently, then quickly splashed it over her head while reciting prayers.  

She sobbed uncontrollably. *"Baba, I swear, the pain is killing me! If I die, God will hold you responsible! Remember the children of the Prophet!"*  

Mama, still holding her down, glared at her with a dark, warning look.
