Tears streamed down her face as if she had been told her mother had died. I noticed her crying, and even though I was busy with my own tasks, despite hearing her sobs, he didn’t stop what he was doing or make any effort to comfort her. The reason was that his own cries of joy overshadowed hers.

Her emotions subsided as he held her close, looked into her eyes, and said, "Why should I pity you when you’re crying over something you should actually be happy about?"  

She replied, "Happy?!! Happy, you say? How can I be happy after losing the one I love, the one I wanted? You’re telling me to be happy? You’re telling me not to cry?!"
