The schoolyard of the Government Girls Unity College in Kachako was filled with a bustling crowd, most of whom were students, along with some parents struggling to guide their children home for the third-semester break.  

From one corner of the schoolyard, you could see a young girl standing with her arms crossed, dressed in a faded but well-maintained uniform. She gazed at the schoolyard with eyes that seemed assigned the task of counting the crowd gathered there. Her beautiful face showed no trace of joy whatsoever.  

Though her age likely did not exceed fifteen, one could still recognize her delicate beauty and the grace God had blessed her with.  

She was of average height, with a long face and a complexion that was neither too fair nor too dark—making it impossible to label her as either. She had large eyes whose true size was only noticeable when she opened them wide, which she often did. The thickness of her lashes alone hinted at the abundance of her hair. God had adorned her with two dimples on her left and right cheeks, which appeared whenever she opened her mouth to speak—even if she didn’t end up saying anything.  

Her eyes welled up with tears again, though they never quite spilled over. Yet one look at her would confirm it—she was troubled, distressed, and overwhelmed. Her only wish was to see her family. She longed for people who held a special place in her heart, even though she had lost the main pillar and guiding figure in her life. Still, she hadn’t lost those who could somewhat fill that void—not as replacements, but as comfort.  

What added to her discomfort and eagerness to leave the school—unlike the other students—was the absence of her sister, who had not returned home since the holiday began. This was due to an illness that had forced her to stay back. Beyond that, she had no major worries about her prolonged stay.
