It was early morning, around 9:30am, and everyone was busy with their daily chores, with the more diligent children having already left for school, while some of the men had gone to the fields.

They went to Uncle Shehu's door, who was always in the house, along with Aunt Larai and Aunt Karima. The girls' room was also empty, except for a young girl who was sleeping soundly. She had not moved for a long time, and then she made a gesture that seemed to be a sign of someone enjoying her sleep. She sat on the edge of her bed, shaking her head and pulling her hair, as if she had just inhaled the dust.
